Kambole gets a taste of the Derby

Though it may be a pre-season encounter, it has not taken away from the spectacle that is the Soweto Derby. Kaizer Chiefs’ new No. 7 Lazalous Kambole will get a taste of the Soweto Derby when he leads the attack against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup this afternoon.

The Zambian-born attacker will be looking to work his way in the hearts of the Amakhosi faithful who selected him to start for the Glamour Boys. He will be partnered by Bernard Parker, who received the most votes across both clubs. ‘Die Hond’ amassed over 100,000 votes, over 40,000 more than any other player.

The midfield will be manned by Siphelele Ntshangase, Dumsani Zuma, Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande. George Maluleka was initially meant to start but injury ruling him out meant that Katsande had to replace him.

Three players who did duty with Bafana Bafana at the Afcon tournament earlier this month make the cut - Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Daniel Cardoso will be in defence, whilst Bruce Bvuma will be the man in between the sticks.

The Amakhosi bench will see a new face, Tsietsi Majoro, who was selected as the Champion Coach by a panel of judges.

Supporters will have the opportunity to make substitutions during the match via Twitter and SMS. The other gamechangers will have supporters select the captain before kick-off and vote for the man of the match.
