“It’s an important game,” Ryan Moon comments about the Absa Premiership clash against Cape Town City on Saturday evening, 17 February (kick-off at 20:15).

The Kaizer Chiefs striker has been in excellent form this year, having scored four times in five matches, including in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Golden Arrows in a Nedbank Cup Last 32 encounter.

“The moment you score you want to get that feeling all the time,” Moon comments. “But I mustn’t put too much pressure on myself. I take it one game at the time. It’s great to score, but in the end it’s all about the team.”

The 21-year-old admits that it’s now up to him to keep both feet on the ground. “Suddenly everybody wants to be your friend,” Moon reacts, “it’s therefore crucial to choose your friends carefully and stay focused.”

The striker points out that senior players like Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker help to keep him grounded.

Amakhosi and Cape Town City have the same number of points (31) after 20 games, being respectively in fourth and fifth position on the league standings.

There are still ten Absa Premiership matches left. Three of Chiefs’ next four games will be played at home, while the fourth, against Orlando Pirates concerns an away match at FNB Stadium. It means that the upcoming four league fixtures of Amakhosi will take place at FNB Stadium.

Chiefs beat Cape Town City in the away game thanks to goals from Siphiwe Tshabalala and Wiseman Meyiwa. Itumeleng Khune was selected as the Man of the Match after an impressive performance.

“They are a tough side,” Moon concludes about Cape Town City. “It’s crucial that we keep the momentum after last week’s win. If we get the three points, we will continue to be in the mix to win the league title.”
