Quickly back to basics after each win - Komphela

“We are not basking in the glory of a winning streak,” Steve Komphela warns ahead of tonight’s clash against Highlands Park. “After a win we immediately switch back to basics. We remain humble and keep our feet on the ground.”

Kaizer Chiefs have won their least four league games.

Amakhosi will host Highlands Park tonight at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium (kick-off is at 18:00).

“We have prepared well for this match,” Komphela continues. “The players are in a winning mode and we want to maintain that. It is not going to be easy against Gordon Igesund’s side that is fighting for their dear life at the foot of the table. We just have to be well prepared.”

Chiefs are in third position with 30 points after 17 matches and Highlands are second from the bottom with 14 points from the same number of games.

“We will be without Erick Mathoho because of his one match suspension,” Komphela confirms, “while George Lebese is back to full fitness and will play some part after making his way back into the squad. We have seen Daniel Cardoso and Siyanda Xulu play with our reserve side in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge last week and both stand a chance to start tonight.”

“We are looking forward to a great encounter,” says Komphela about the Highlands Park encounter. “I hope that our supporters will come in big numbers to give us an added element in the stands.”

“We don’t have any players injured except for the normal,” concludes the visibly confident Chiefs coach. “It’s another game and another challenge that we must go through in order to reach the promised land… And that's winning the league."
