Kaizer Chiefs’ investment in their Youth Development Academy continues to yield positive results and bear fruit for the club by producing top talent for the senior team. Amakhosi have in recent times seen a number of young players shine for the senior team in the DStv Premiership after being promoted to the elite league.

The latest addition from the development structures is the reserve team player Sabelo Radebe, who has been drafted into the senior team.

Radebe joins the senior team after impressing coach Gavin Hunt and his technical team during a few games in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) before its recess. He was invited two weeks ago to train with his seniors and continued to show glimpses of brilliance. His talent and commitment convinced Hunt to bring him on board for his team.

The Soweto-born player is a midfielder, with a knack of scoring goals and is among top goal poachers in the DDC. He joined Kaizer Chiefs juniors ranks in 2017.

He joins a few reserve team players who have impressed after being included in the senior team in recent months. They include Lebohang Lesako, Darrel Matsheke and Keletso Sifama.

With the reserve league still on hold, the players will focus on their senior team duties. They can be recalled to the junior side where necessary as soon as the DDC resumes.

Radebe plays in the midfield where he will join other former junior team members in the form of Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Njabulo Blom in the middle of the park.

After impressing in a midweek friendly, the 21-year-old is expected to make the 20-man squad that will be selected for the Nedbank Cup match against Richards Bay on Sunday at FNB Stadium.
