We have to respond - Solinas

“Looking at the team and their commitment at training, I’m confident we will do well,” comments Giovanni Solinas after taking Kaizer Chiefs through their final preparations on Saturday. “We are coming from a massive defeat in the Soweto Derby. The match against SuperSport is an opportunity to redeem ourselves.”

Kaizer Chiefs will, on Sunday, 4 November, face SuperSport United in the pick of the Telkom Knockout quarterfinal fixtures. The mouthwatering affair is scheduled to kick-off at 15:00 at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“We have prepared well and we only have Lebogang Manyama and Joseph Molangoane ruled out from selection,” adds Solinas, referring to the injury woes that have plagued Amakhosi recently.

“It’s another big game for us considering that we lost to SuperSport (in MTN8 cup semis). They are a strong team with several internationals in their squad. We have our strong players to match them though.”

In the current Kaizer Chiefs squad, Bernard Parker will arrive in Durban with good memories. It was back in 2013, at Moses Mabhida Stadium, when the striker struck in the 94th minute resulting in the Glamour Boys beating SuperSport United and, as a result, lifting the Nedbank Cup.

“Tomorrow’s match will be a different ball game,” continues Solinas. “We are going into every match to win and SuperSport will not be an exception.”

With SuperSport United assuming now a position of the favourite side, the stage is set perfectly for Amakhosi to change the script.
