In yet another example of the amazing work being carried out within the Kaizer Chiefs youth development structures, six players and two coaches have been included in South Africa’s national U-15 squad that will represent the country at the 2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan later this month.
Amakhosi youth development players, Ian De Jongh, Reatlegile Mosimane, Inganathi Saliwa, Lesedi Hlalele, and Neo Dlamini were all selected in the squad, along with coaches Edgar Mokgonyana and Thulani Ntshinga.
Before heading to the global championship competition, the travelling party will stop off in Germany to participate in the Bundesliga Dream 2026, which will serve as a good warm-up for what lies ahead.
Speaking exclusively to www.kaizerchiefs.com, U15s head coach, Jhaimu ‘Jimmy’ Jambo said, “We are very pleased for our boys who have been selected for the national team. We know they will represent the Club well at the World Cup, and will surely leave a mark on the tournament. We have had six players selected, but it would have been more had it been up to me, because we have very good quality within this group. To those who were selected, I wish good luck, and to those who missed out this time, I say don’t despair; keep working hard and your day of recognition will come.”
The coach believes there is still enough talent at his disposal to continue their quest to win their domestic league.
“Even with five players missing on national duty, we have not sought postponement of our games as I think we have players of high quality within the group to carry on, as we will against Mamelodi Sundowns this weekend.
Coach Jambo ended off with a message of goodwill to the Kaizer Chiefs contingent, saying, “I wish our players all the best and also to our coaches. I give them all my blessings and hope they will come back with trophies and awards.”
