After an impressive start to the new season last weekend, Kaizer Chiefs Reserves lost their second game of the season in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge against Highlands Park Reserves. The game was played at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday.

Arthur Zwane’s charges could not gain control of the game as they conceded two goals in the first half. The goals came in the 32nd and 44th minutes. The second goal was a penalty kick.

Sensing danger, Zwane made changes by pulling out Samkelo Zwane for Kefiloe Mojaki in the 50th minute.

Chiefs threw everything forward trying to reduce the deficit, but it was Highlands who countered to make it 3-0 in the 60th minute.

Zwane continued to plot a comeback- pulling off Sibusiso Milazi in the 63rd minute for Mthokozisi Balakasi. In the 67th minute of the pulsating match, Zwane threw the last dice by replacing Tshepo Mohlala with Nkosinathi Nzama.

Zwane’s changes paid off with Nzama reducing the deficit in 78th to make it 1-3. Chiefs fought gallantly and Yaseen Bunting scored Amakhosi’s second goal in the 89th minute to make it 2-3.

Chiefs were stronger and going for an equaliser but it was late as the referee blew the final whistle in the 90th minute, with Highlands Park walking away the three points.
